In the north-west corner of Mozambique, with Tanzania to the North and Malawi to the West, just outside the Niassa Special Reserve lies the 360 000ha / 892 000 acre Free- range Moquia hunting area.
With its diverse variety of habitats ranging from Miombo-woodland, broken savannah, riverine thickets and mountains with many natural springs . Home to a wide variety of animals, with more than 20 different species available to the hunter.
The area is known for its many Leopard and Lion. Top quality Buffalo and healthy population of plains game such as Eland, Sable, Niassa Wildebeest , L Hartebeest, Kudu, Waterbuck and Zebra to name but a few. With the Lugenda river to the West, it also offers the opportunity to hunt Hippo and Crocodile.
The area has 2 fully operational camps. A safari tented camp over looking the Lugenda river and the other a comfortable en-suite thatched chalet camp on the banks of the Lureco river, with a beautiful view of the mountains. Both camps have hot / cold running water with all the extras that you need . Delicious African cuisine, personal service and friendly staff will ensure a memorable stay.
To reach this hidden gem in Africa , you travel to Maputo, the capital city of Mozambique. Spend the night in a comfortable hotel over looking the Indian ocean. The next morning take a 2h45 domestic flight to Lichinga ( via Nampula) where you will be met by a representative . Then a comfortable 2-hour road transfer to the hunting area.
