The Zambezi Delta
There is a certain magic, a sense of calm excitement about the bush in Africa , of this wild and enchanted part of East Africa called the Zambezi Delta. It is not only gripping, it is addictive.
Once bitten by the safari bug…Its fever is a gentle kind of madness that compels you to return and return – a burning longing which will seize you by the throat until you gladly sell your soul for the sight of a palm tree against a smoky sky , the seemingly surreal colours spawned by the most unbelievable Mozambique sunsets , a herd of sable wheeling under their own dust , a reedbuck whistling its discontent with the approaching darkness , or the deep rasping grunt of a leopard prowling the night.
The Mozambique wilderness has a scent all of its own , a mixture of wet leaves , dust , fog and smoke , a heady fragrance that fills the lungs and intoxicates the mind like strong wine.
The Coutada 10 wilderness is something else. It is unlike any other place that you have ever seen! It offers us the rare opportunity to step back in time for a while , to the nearly forgotten golden era of African big game hunting and adventure.
This 500 000-acre free range area bordering the Marromeu Buffalo Reserve to the east and the Indian ocean to the south is arguably one of the best authentic hunting areas left in Africa! With its diverse variety of habitats from open grass lands, scattered woodland, savannah and thick forest. Home to a wide variety of animals, with more than 20 different species available to the hunter. Buffalo, Hippo and Leopard for the big game hunter, 5 of the tiny ten and big herds of Sable , Waterbuck and Lichtenstein’s Hartebeest to name but a few.
A scenic 40-minute charter flight from Beira brings you straight to camp. The main camp is situated under huge indigenous Musasa trees that create a tranquil setting for the spacious log cabins. The comfortable en-suite log cabins are insect proof with hot and cold running water.
